Business Challenge

A large corporately owned organization of auto body/collision facilities in the GTA and Eastern Ontario were looking for a way to standardize and secure their network across their many locations. They had been able to build a successful company based on the strength of its staff and the support of their customers. From the top down, their team is dedicated to providing their customers and partners a Customer First approach. In order to achieve a work environment that made it easy to put the customer first, their team needed to revaluate how IT was deploying their services.

The network was fragmented and relied on several carriers to facilitate its connectivity. Its bandwidth varied by collision centre, so when issues appeared on the network, IT management was forced to put feet on the ground. This resulted in increased cost, increased workload for their staff, and increased time to issue resolution.

The company was running on premise applications at each facility, which relied heavily on IT to ensure it was available with up to date patches. When a system failed, the facility would be in a stand-still unable to service its clients. They were looking for a partner to help manage IT resources, secure its network from outside threats, and improve operational efficiencies.

The Automotive Industry Solution

ACI, through its large footprint was able to provide consistent bandwidth across all locations and centralize its management applications into a private cloud. To enhance the company’s security concerns and ensure its client information is secure, ACI solution also included a private MPLS network with unified threat management. The complete automotive industry solution included the following:

  • MPLS private network
  • Best available FTTN speeds with LTE backup for collision facilities
  • 20 Mbps microwave services for remote service areas
  • 100 Mbps fibre to head office
  • Hosted private cloud with backup enablement
  • Unified Threat Management

ACI’s end-to-end solution was able to ensure an always on, always available solution, with consistent speeds regardless if the collision centre was located in a densely populated area or a remote rural town. The fully managed private network provided a secure way for head office IT to remotely connect to each site. The private cloud allowed them to eliminate the need for local storage and applications at each location. Using unified threat management, they were able to secure the network from outside threats through anti-malware scanning and intrusion mitigation, providing the security customers demanded, while reducing the workload of its IT department.

According to Michael Leroux, Senior Solutions Architect at ACI, “Building a network is more than just speed and access, it is a means to strengthen your core business operations. This means bringing reliable communications, improved up-time, and providing protection of its resources.” Michael was able to design a solution to reduce operational IT workload to make it easier for the client to focus on its customers while the expert ACI operational team manages their infrastructure.

The collision center company was left with a stronger, more flexible IT infrastructure that reduced IT workload, while providing a consistent positive experience to their customers.
